You Own 20 Pairs of Shoes and Only 1 Pair of Glasses? What Do People Look At First, Your Feet or Your Face?

Fifteen to twenty years ago, we launched a campaign for our store in San Francisco (San Francisco Optics), running ads with it in local San Francisco newspapers and publications like San Francisco Bay Guardian, SF Weekly and the San Francisco Chronicle.

You Own 20 Pairs of Shoes and Only 1 Pair of Glasses?
What Do People Look At First, Your Feet or Your Face?
I mean, it makes sense, right??!!

About two years ago, we relaunched this campaign:

Now, in the age of social media with platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, we were pleasantly surprised to see our creative work go viral, being shared all over the place with tons of comments and likes. Many of the shared versions had our ALEXANDER DAAS logo and #StyledByDaas hashtag cropped or edited out, but we were still happy to see the message going around.

It seems our ad has resurfaced and we are excited to see it go viral again with it’s 3rd act. A special thank you to one of our ALEXANDER DAAS authorized dealers in Juno Beach, Florida – Juno Beach Optical – and their amazing Licensed Optician, Micki Lorelli, for sharing this blurb about the ad.

Our ad focuses on the fact that the first thing people notice is your face – which is approximately eye level to anyone looking at you. So if people invest so much into their shoe selection, why wouldn’t they put as much consideration into their eyewear selection and make a good lasting impression with their eyes using an awesome pair of glasses. Because sometimes, all it takes to turn people off is a single look. The first glance, maybe the first three seconds, can make or break relationships that follow since first impressions are often nearly impossible to undo. And in most cases, people make their first impression just by looking at the face and more particularly the eyes. As an eyewear company, we couldn’t emphasize enough the importance of glasses, not only because of sight, but also because they can completely change the image you create for yourself.

They say our eyes are the windows to our soul. Our eyes don’t lie, they always reveal truth, and they show hints of our personality. Hence, there is no better way to impress someone than to direct their attention to your eyes. And what more perfect way to show your personality? A good pair of eyewear that fits your vision needs, personality, and face shape is all you need to create a fantastic first impression.

It’s not the feet but it’s the face that we see first thing when we meet a person. Next would be clothes, then shoes, and lastly, scent. It’s not a luxurious pair of shoes or newly pedicured feet that makes a person stand out at first glance, it’s the glasses. When a person is perfectly styled with an awesome pair of eyewear, the glasses can give them the confidence to meet people face to face maintaining good eye contact and making a great impression.

So what do you think? What Do People Look At First, Your Feet or Your Face?

Press Release: Daas Luxury Optics Named USA Agent of Distribution for TAVAT Eyewear

TAVAT Alexander Daas

Independent and luxury Italian eyewear line, TAVAT, announces DAAS LUXURY OPTICS, the house of Alexander Daas Eyewear, as new agent for US distribution.

DAAS LUXURY OPTICS and TAVAT Eyewear announced today that they have partnered for the exclusive distributorship of TAVAT eyewear across the United States.

Hand crafted among the foothills of the Dolomites in Northern Italy, TAVATfeatures unique technologies with the Tactile and Ex-Cam hinges, and state of the art melanin lenses.

“We are eager to deepen TAVAT‘s presence across the USA, bringing unique Italian elements to the marketplace which are not only fashionable and functional, but provide superior, unparalleled protection with unique hinges and Melanin technology,” says Alex Feldman, CEO of Daas Luxury Optics.

TAVAT Alexander Daas

The Tactical hinge represents luxury – traditional quality, refined workmanship, and honors authentic Italian style, characterized by minimal design, magnificent beauty, and most importantly, originality.

Nominated for it’s innovative technology in Silmo d’Or awards in Paris, 2010, frames developed with the iconic EX-CAM patented and trademarked hinge guarantee a high-tech mechanical precision in the opening-closing action.  Collections featuring these hinges alongside TAVAT Lens Technology (TLT) melanin + polar lenses include TAVAT’s Airman line, made from medical stainless steel.

Melanin Lenses in TAVAT Sunglasses

TAVAT Lens Technology (TLT) features Melanin lenses to improve visual performance and long-term eye protection. Melanin, a naturally occurring pigment found throughout the human body serves to protect against sunlight damage, by filtering Ultraviolet (UV) and High Energy Visible (HEV) light, better known as “Violet-Blue light”. According to research coming out of leading institute for eye research, over the last 40 years, blue rays seem to quicken the development of AMD more than other rays of solar spectrum, and recommends that sunglasses protect against both blue/violet and UV light.

TAVAT’s sunglass lenses are infused with a synthetic melanin to provide the ultimate in eye protection, improving clarity and enhancing contrast, without any color distortion. Inspired by the natural defenses of the human body against the sun, the synthetic melanin acts in the same way as natural melanin, as a shield against UV rays and harmful violet-blue light (HEV), providing higher protection and enhanced performance.

DAAS LUXURY OPTICS also distributes ALEXANDER DAAS EYEWEAR.

Alexander Daas Eyewear Showroom on KUSI News: Good Morning San Diego

Originally aired Wednesday, June 26, 2013

Interview with Alexander Daas at the Alexander Daas Eyewear Showroom in downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter on KUSI Good Morning San Diego with reporter Mike Castellucci.

Three separate segments were aired and you can see them all in this video.

Alex discusses the Alexander Daas Philanthropy program where a portion of sales from authorized opticians and optometrists goes to various charities of their choosing.

He reviews the collection and goes over the emphasis of the eye glasses being the perfect solution for smaller faces / petite faces / small PD since the collection has an emphasis on smaller shapes so adults don’t have to wear kids frames. And Mike is wowed by the Alexander Daas case which is fully collapsable and folds completely flat when not being used.

Mike also notes some of the celebrities wearing Alexander Daas including Sammy Hagar and Jenny McCarthy.

Alexander Daas Eyewear is available at independent high end optical boutiques and optometrists all across the nation. Visit https://luxuryeyewearplan.com/store-locator to find an authorized optician near you.

The Alexander Daas Eyewear Showroom is located at 431 J St., San Diego, CA 92101.

Jenny McCarthy a Spectacle on ABC’s The View

What a VIEW it was! Today, Jenny McCarthy co-hosted ABC’s hit talk show The View alongside Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Sherri Shepherd. And those sexy specs that Jenny was wearing… Alexander Daas model hayes in color dark tortoise / blue.

Jenny McCarthy’s glasses look absolutely stunning on her – the fit is perfect with her eyes centered in the lenses, and with just enough angle on the outside edges to accentuate her cheekbones.

This is not the first time Alexander Daas was Jenny McCarthy’s eyewear of choice. You may recall her presenting at the American Music Awards in 2011 (and several other sightings) wearing model wisdom x in color dark tortoise / powder blue.
